I’m very interested in this topic–I’m dealing with many of the same issues on my current project that I posted a proposed session for: iowacity2012.thatcamp.org/03/31/digital-dissertations/. I was actually at the ASOME conference at CHNM that resulted from Jeff’s session at THATCamp and there were some interesting ideas there.

I am definitely interested in this topic. As Grants & Administration officer for Humanities Iowa, I am in charge of achiving all of the media projects we fund, from oral histories of veterans to power points to award-winning documentaries. I am looking for an efficient way to store and distribute this content as it is currently amassing a rather ugly pile on my desk instead of enlightening the world. It’s a travesty.

I’m especially interested in archiving video/HDV. What format should AV materials be ‘stored’ in? FCP? How to deal with changing platforms and hardware as well? How does one keep up with this?

I’m interested in the digital preservation of media as well. Your description of it being a “moving target” is an apt one.

Yes. I’ve administered a few AV archival servers for public institutions and have attended a couple conferences on AV preservation. Definitely interested in having a conversation about this topic.
