HTML Basics

I would love a session that provides a (REALLY) introductory crash-course on html. The trouble is, there’s no way I can “lead” this session–the reason I need it is because I don’t know the first thing! So if there are any others interested, and if there’s anyone out there who’d be willing to lead us onward, thank you all!

About julie-hochstrasser

I'm a historian of Early Modern Northern European Art, specialized in 17th-century Dutch. My project "The Dutch in the World" has taken me to a dozen or so key sites of Dutch trade in Asia, Africa, and the Americas--Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Sri Lanka, India, South Africa, Ghana, Brazil, Suriname, the Netherlands Antilles, even New York--documenting a range of art forms that register the interculturation engendered by these early modern contacts. I've worked with tech-experts in birthing a web project out of this work, currently in progress, but THEY have all the magic!

  1. Who else might be interested in learning HTML basics? I could stumble my way through teaching the basics for using HTML in WordPress, but I’m sure there are folks coming who could better teach building a website from scratch. If others also feel like they want an introduction, we could set up a session where we learn together through Lynda.com tutorials.

I can also talk about Information Architecture needs from the user’s perspective. As in, what information do people want to get from your website? Coming from a communication and UX (user experience) design perspective. (Disclaimer: most of my knowledge in this realm is self-taught. I haven’t taken a strict IA or UX course at the grad level.)

I feel pretty comfortable with HTML and would be happy to help with some kind of crash course.

I would like a good introduction to web design. HTML or even more basic. HTML would be great too.
