I've spent the past 3.5 years as a librarian at Grinnell College advocating for and building better technology for teaching, learning and research. I was recently approved for a research leave next year to study "innovative ways of providing online discovery and access for primary-source materials. Specifically, I am interested in the potential of using tools such as SIMILE’s Exhibit widget, the Library of Congress’s ViewShare/Recollection platform, and others that visualize collections—on a timeline, on a map, or in other ways—to help students contextualize and navigate these collections" (quoting from my leave proposal).
