I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a French degree in 2001 and a MLS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002. I was lucky enough to work the Rare Book & Manuscript Library at UIUC as an assistant to the curator of special collections for several years, during which I spearheaded a project to organize and rehouse their Carl Sandburg collection. Part of that project included digitizing most of the photographs and parts of the audio and textual aspects of the collection.

After leaving special collections at UIUC, I worked for the Internet Archive as the head of the scanning center at Illinois, and we wound up scanning a lot of material for the rare book library, among other things. I worked there for three and a half years before being hired at Grinnell College as the library assistant in special collections and archives, where we field two or three digitization requests per week.
