I have very little technological experience. I do not own a cell phone. I do not know how to scan or photoshop. I live in a place where we don't have television or high speed internet. We live off the grid with hydro electric power and geo thermal heat. I can email, do web searches for personal and academic research, and use my computer as a word processor (though I find the new version of Microsoft very user UN-friendly compared to the previous version). I teach difficult subjects that deal with race, class, gender & sexuality issues; subjects that are best discussed in face-to-face settings, but which I still feel could be integrated with some technology if I just knew what was possible. I also recognize that the job opportunities in my area back home are likely to include teaching on line courses, for which I am currently ill prepared to design and teach.
