Extra Special Thank You’s for Extra Special Support
THATCamp Iowa City began as a project idea for the two University of Iowa HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Sciences, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory) Scholars, Melody Dworak and Katherine F. Montgomery, that could fulfill their mission of facilitating conversations among University of Iowa scholars from different disciplines. Teresa Mangum of the Obermann Center and Jean Florman of the Center for Teaching have thrown their support behind THATCamp Iowa City from the very beginning. This initiative could not have happened without their guidance.
Spring 2012 is the perfect time for THATCamp Iowa City because of the burgeoning digital initiatives at Iowa and the development of the Digital Studio for the Public Humanities, steered by the studio’s director, Jon Winet. He and Nicki Saylor, head of Digital Research & Publishing—which works intimately with and is co-located with the studio—had given both their blessing and guidance during the initiative’s exploratory phase. THATCamp Iowa City would not be happening without their interest in it.
Final extra special thanks go to the core staff at the Obermann Center, Assistant Director Jennifer New and Administrator Neda Barrett, who are assisting us with the core needs of marketing and accounting.
