I've worked in libraries, on and off, for over 40 years. Though they've changed greatly since I was a boy, they're still one of the only institutions, besides the fire department, that I trust and admire. Attending graduate school in LIS has been both challenging and enlightening. In between library jobs, I found time to be a professional musician (saxophone) and played and recorded with Violent Femmes for over twenty years. I am still playing in Iowa City, both solo and with Brooks Strause and the Gory Details. Poetry has interested me since I was twelve and I have been lucky enough to see my work published in small magazines, off and online. I worked as a poetry editor for the Iowa Review from 2001-2003. I'm married to Claire Fox, professor of English at UI, and we have two sons, Dominic and Ilario. I spend most of my time at school and at home.

Professionally, I look forward to graduating from SLIS in July and hope to continue working in Special Collections and Archives. My current emphasis is on the Digital Humanities and how technology can foster increased awareness, access, and utilization of resources for purposes of research and pleasure.
