I have a background in Museum Studies and love this kind of work because it serves a similar purpose (but can have a different kind of impact). I like linking the humanities and technology because it is a fun and creative way to bring general audiences into conversations about broad and important issues.
BUT, I must admit....my techy skills are kind of basic. I'm mostly a (wordprocessor) PC person but the Apple world often crosses over into my work and I want to improve my skills.
I know that technology can be a powerful tool, but am still pretty awkward at navigating and feeling comfortable with being able to set goals and complete them from a technology standpoint. To this end, I have found that building coalitions is EXTREMELY important. A former boss of mine once wisely told me..."You can't do it all, but you do need to know who to go to in order to make sure that your part works." So, I'm excited about reaching out and being a part of a wider team of people working and living in the dual worlds of humanities and technology.....and dreaming that I will live to see the day when people are excited to connect with the humanities (both through technology and in their original form).
Beyond that...I'm a foodie/southerner/moviegoer/ who dreams of having time to travel simply for the sake of traveling.
